I couldn't agree with you more: listening is one of the top social skills. Often, we tend to be good "hearers" rather than good "listeners" - the difference being is that rather than hearing someone else's words, we listen to their meaning. For me, I have to work at being a good listener but it's really paid off - I've made many friends and have good relationships with my clients...and it all comes from listening to them. Thanks for highlighting the importance of this skill!

This is something I've been thinking about for the past few days. I definitely need to get out and socialize more. I stay home out of sheer laziness way too often. Time to get out! Thanks! Was good to see you again at the reception.

Yeah, what JP said.

I did approve the comment because, while it was not related to my post, your blog post is relevant to the point I was making.

But I agree with JP - I was a bit surprised to see a trackback and no link.

Hey there ... who are you?

Sounds like we're definitely on the same page.

You put up a post today on my blog about the Brain Trust. I didn't make it public yet, because it wasn't really a response to the thread -- and more of a lead-in, promo for your blog.

I'm more than happy to promote your blog and cross link with you. Just identify yourself, and let's talk about cooperatively promoting each other.

Warmly,
JP

Tony Robbins also says, "If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten."
A lot of bright people seem to pass over multiple strategies, instead opting for the, "If this approach doesn't work, I'll do the same thing again, but this time I'll do it HARDER" method.

Good points. I think listening is crucial as well. Many problems could be solved by really listening to what people are already telling you.

Hi! I'm really glad you liked the article on the Lists of 100. Thank you very much for the link in the post, and specially for the one in the sidebar. I really appreciate it.

I can relate to the story you heard in Robbins' tape. It is too easy to be caught in circular thinking and be exhausted from trying just one solution over and over...

Best Wishes!

Well written. This is definitely an area where I struggle. I don't like focusing on just one thing, but when I focus on too many things at once, nothing gets finished. I'm putting away my shotgun and getting out my high powered rifle!
