Finding Your Place In Life

In How to Win Friends & Influence People, Dale Carnegie writes, “If you tell me how you get your feeling of importance, I’ll tell you what you are.”He also explains that by a “feeling of importance” he means what gives you the most satisfaction.

Here are just a couple of thoughts to consider:

Strange is our situation here upon earth. Each of us comes for a short visit, not knowing why, yet sometimes seeming to divine a purpose. From the standpoint of daily life, however, there is one thing we do know: that man is here for the sake of other men.

- Albert Einstein

Also:

I don’t know what your destiny will be, but one thing I know: The ones among you who will be really happy are those who have sought and found how to serve.

- Albert Schweitzer

What gives you the most satisfaction? In my limited experience, the happiest people have been those who have arranged their life to serve those around them in some way, not the ones who have been chasing after a fistfull of dollars. And that’s not to say one cannot be wealthy and still serve others. You can do both. Just remember which one bring you more lasting satisfaction
